I USED TO BE A LITTLE GiRL (poetry sample)
I tried to hide
My sex, my smile
Tried to walk
In single file
Tried to hurry
Tried to push
Tried to bury
Tried to shshsh
I tried to cut me
Down to size
Tried to see things
Thru your eyes...
But I got bored.

Longest friggin hiatus ever... Ugh- I miss Obedient Waves!
That's what's on my mind this Monday morn. We've got a new EP to record & money to save, but I just wanna get back on stage. I was hoping that'd happen this fall, but now it's looking more like the beginning of next year. Feels like an eternity.. wating... waiting... waiting...
Henry! Where are you when I need you most??? Obedient Waves has been on hiatus since October and I've cut way back on illustration work in an attempt to write my first novel, which I hope will be the first in a series. Now I realize that my ambition has gotten the best of me, it's time to get back to the band, and I'll need A LOT more time to get this thing in shape. Sheesh! It better be good...
I was more and less ambitious when I started KOSHi with a xerox zine back in Fall 2003 and then moved to an online format the following Spring. I was more ambitious for wanting to put out my every doodle and idea faster than I could execute them with anything resembling finesse, and I was less ambitious in that I wasn't really considering that these thoughts and images might stick with me for a life time or longer and that I might want to try rendering them with a little more patience and care just in case. Eventually, that did occur to me, and a balance was struck to where now I can honestly say that I may be moving at a more measured pace, but my work today blows what I was doing back then out of the water. And looking back is much less embarrassing than I though it would be.
Duh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh... You say it's your birthday? Duh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh... Well, it's my birthday too!
No, really, it is! I have always loved my birthday & will act like a total nut job princess every September 29th until I run out of September 29ths. It doesn't matter how old I get. My birthday always makes me feel like a kid again.
I ordered myself a couple of fabulous gifts this year (Thank yooooou, Joanna!) & hope they're waiting at the post office for me now...
MORE Tuscan Patchouli Whipped Body Butter. Remember when I first discovered this mind-boggingly delicious stuff? I'm still not over it. Not even close...
The Golden Tarot deck. I've been stalking this thing online for months. The artist that created it, Kat Black, did such a cool job collaging medieval & renaissance paintings into new images that give a fresh slant to the ol Rider-Waite symbolism & I've been really into learning tarot since I bought my first deck on my honeymoon a year and a half ago. Can't wait to see what this one looks like in person!
