"Just because Obedient Waves’ punk rock is no-frills doesn’t mean it’s no-thrills. The songwriting duo of Billy Gruber and Joanna DeVoe write bombastic ditties with barbed-wire lyrics, and their boy-girl vocals might come across as mere playground taunting if they weren’t so clever. Their exploits include a 16-month, six-EP project titled “Rock & Roll 4 President,” and, having obviously changed the course of political history, they quickly moved on. They are offering their “We Never Liked You Anyway” EP for free download, and are preparing the new “Rumble Fish” EP — their eighth such release in under two years. Whew."
