Let's Keep This Morning's Dead Weather Ball Rollin & DiE BY THE DROP!

If You Don't Lose Your Shit At A Dead Weather Concert, You Do NOT Deserve To Be There!

"Jack White laid into the celebrity-filled audience at The Dead Weather's gig at Don Hill's in New York on Wednesday (August 4), labelling them "hip motherfuckers".

The band were playing a secret show at the relaunch party of Don Hill's to an audience who included the likes of Sean Lennon, Liv Tyler, Alexa Chung and Mary-Kate Olsen.

According to New York Daily News, White is said to have taken offence at the less-than-enthusiastic crowd.

"Fuck you, you hip motherfuckers!" he told the audience at one point. "Why don't you rock the fuck out? Maybe I should go grab those free drinks and shove them down your throats, you hip motherfuckers!""

How can you watch-hear something like this & not move your ass? Don't these people know that rock & roll is here to set us free???

Badass. Right? Right.

Jack White Is My Rock God. Alison Mosshart Is Cool As Hell. & The Dead Weather? Pure Heaven. Get A Lil Slice Of It For Yourself This Summer & RAWK ON!

"It was a full-on pagan rock'n'roll ritual. The altar: one of the best rock venues in the country, Washington's D.C.'s 9:30 Club. Onstage, four stuffed goat's heads were mounted on the Dead Weather's lighting gear, staring out at the sold-out room. A giant glowing eye, a trick of painted curtain and clever light, peered down at the room from near the rafters. Smoke hissed out from sidestage, hanging a milky haze through the crowd.

Then the four-piece supergroup of Jack White, the Kills' Alison Mosshart, Queens of the Stone Age's Dean Fertita, and Raconteur Jack Lawrence started playing. Slowly.

So began the Dead Weather's summer club tour."

The Dead Weather At The Wiltern

Billy & I had the best time seeing The Dead Weather play The Wiltern last month. They're soooo good & we followed that up the very next day with a trip out to Pasadena to catch "It Might Get Loud" then a swing through Third Man Records pop up store to nab some Horehound on vinyl. It was a very Jack Whitey kinda week, which really is my favorite kind.

So... are you ready for a shitload of blurry pictures?! If you're as big a fan of The Dead Weather as I am, then I'm guessing that you are. Of course, even the best photography could never make up for seeing this epic band live, so, if you haven't done so already, maybe you'll be lucky enough to catch em at Austin City Limits next month. They'll be there & then all over Europe soon after. Rock & Roll!

And, if you still haven't had enough, I suggest you check out this interview Alison Mosshart did recently with Urban Outfitters.

It Might Get Loud

How many more ways can I express my undying love for Jack White? It seems redundant & downright goofy to expound upon it any further. So, I won't. I'll merely say that I am delighted beyond reason that It Might Get Loud is hitting L.A. friday & that Jack has just released a recording of Fly Farm Blues, the first song from his upcoming solo project in celebration (and, obviously, for promotion) of the launch of this awesome documentary.

Treat Me Like Your Mother

Here it is... Treat Me Like Your Mother, the short film. Actually, it looks more like a video to me, but I guess they can call it whatever they want. Whatchoo think? Obviously, I LOVE it. I'm such a sucker for both Jack White & Alison Mosshart. I could never give an unbiased opinion.

-I know my blog cuts off the right side of videos, but I don't know why or how to stop that from happening. If that bugs you, just click on the YouTube icon to see it properly.

p.s. Guns are bad.

The Dead Weather live on From The Basement

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... I love him sooo much! Ah... Jack White. Whoo! Whoo! I've been impatiently waiting for The Dead Weather's live performance on From The Basement for weeks. Now, I'm sitting here watching the archival footage of The Raconteurs that they're running while us die hard fans wait n wait n wait wait wait... "Rich Kid Blues" is playing & it's fucking awesome. I feel like I'm right there in the studio with Jack (okay, so I have a good imagination, which enhances the in-studio effect)... oh hell, what was I saying??? They just switched to archival footage of The White Stripes doing "Blue Orchid". Why am I sitting her jerking off to blogger?! See ya later. Much later...

UPDATE: Yarrrr!!! That was way more FUN than anyone should be allowed to have in the middle of a Monday afternoon- one of the awesome perks of working from home. Did you watch? I watched with headphones on &, now that it's over, the neighborhood quiet leaking in from an open window seems all the more peaceful & zen. There's a dove cooing in the distance, some trees rolling like the ocean & a plane flying high overhead. I am one with life & nature &, yes, rock & roll. Ommmmm....

Under Great White Northern Lights

Over the river & through the woods... the baddest two piece will go...

Word on the street is that The White Stripes are making a movie, a documentary of sorts about their 2007 tour that had them touring every province/territory in Canada & playing a short intimate set in an unconventional place like a city bus or fishing boat before each scheduled, full length concert. "As we went around and played a show in every province or territory, we realized that not even a Canadian band had ever done that. Which is wild, I can't even believe that," White recalled. "How did we become the first, you know? It's already the 21st century!" Under Great White Northern Lights will be out this September, plus there's talk of Jack bringing Meg out on the road with a new record again next year, which is really, considering that this is the summer of The Dead Weather & Jack's planning to record a solo record at the end of '09, an embarrassment of riches.

p.s. CONGRATS to the newly hitched Mrs.Meg White Smith!

The Dead Weather on Spin

I am like a pig in shit with all of the Jack White-Alison Mosshart media coverage of late & thanks to The Dead Weather's upcoming tour & debut record, Horehound, I don't think it will be letting up any time soon. Check out the most happenin' band ever on the cover of the new issue of SPiN magazine & the accompanying feature inside. And then you can go on ahead & read THiS cool lil blog piece they did on why Jack White is not like your dad's rock star.

It Might Get Loud

My ex-boss, Danny Benair, by virtue of his rock & roll past and his music marketing company, natural energy lab, gets to meet all kinds of interesting people & do a lot of awesome things. Case in point: he was the first one to tell me about "It Might Get Loud", a couple of years back, when his buddy had him to the set to see Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page do their thing. Of course, I was sick with jealousy.

Now, at last, I'm getting a piece of the action, albeit a mundane piece of a piece, thanks to the New York Times' posting the trailer for the finished product HERE, and, I gotta say... I CAN NOT WAiT TO SEE THiS FUCKiNG MOViE!!!

If, like me, you're a major weirdo-fan & can put up with some extremely crappy sound & shaky video, you might want to check out this Q&A the threesome did last year after the world premiere of "It Might Get Loud" at the Toronto Film Festival...

The Dead Weather SOLD OUT

Someone has to die. This is me supercalifragilisticlypissed off!!!! I saved my little pennies, and counted down on my calendar to today at noon, so that I would be one of the first to get tix to The Dead Weather at The Wiltern (or Glasshouse) show this summer, and they were already sold out when I got there. How is that? Did some eBay douche bag go & buy them all up before the real fans got their chance or are there really that many crazy ass fanatics out there, beating me to the punch? I set my timer for Christ's sake. Waaahhhhh!!! It's not fair. Not fair, I say!

Horehound SOON!

It's coming!!!! I really can not contain my excitement over the upcoming release of The Dead Weather's debut ep "Horehound". Hope the wait doesn't kill me!

The band, and when I say that I mean THE band(!), have also just announced their North American tour dates, which will put them (and Me!) in L.A. at the Wiltern August 25th. Limited pre-sale tix for that will be available starting TOMORROW, May 13th at 12 noon EST. Those fans (Me! Me! Me!) purchasing pre-sale tix will also have the opportunity to pre-order "Horehound" at a discounted price.

Oh Jackie... I don't need a discount or any convincing, but I'll take it!

The White Stripes Are Not Over

If you follow my Obedient Waves BLOG, you know I have a maniacal preoccupation with Jack White, which started with the birth of the White Stripes. Okay- maybe I wasn't there at the actual date of birth, but I was coming 'round with flowers & balloons shortly there after & have been a most devoted fan ever since. Okay- now that's a lie too. Not that I have faltered in my love for Mr. White, ever EVER, but I really wasn't feeling The Raconteurs. It was just too... ordinary and, I thought, beneath him. Thankfully, he's moved on to the Dead Weather with Alison Mosshart, the only woman on the planet who could possibly be considered his counterpart in cool, and all is right in the world again. In fact, it's more than alright. I am swimming in an embarrassment of riches now that I found this lil interview with Radar Music that Jack did a couple of days ago, promising another record & tour for The White Stripes next year!!! Excuse me now- I gotta go dig up my old copy of De Stijl to celebrate this news like a proper idiot.
