Geoff Emerick, the engineer in charge of the Beatles' original "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' sessions will use the same equipment to record new versions of this classic album with current pop-rockers to mark it's 40th anniversary. Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said, "The range and quality of artists involved ensure that this will be a fitting tribute to one of the great albums of all time." How does a range in quality ensure that it will be a fitting tribute? Is it really necessary to lump goofballs like Travis and The Killers alongside cool kids like Razorlight & Oasis? And what about true quality acts like Kings Of Leon, The White Stripes, The Vines, Doves, and Devendra Banhart (who recently did his own stylish take on Sgt. Pepper)? And... And... where's the female representation? Have these people ever heard of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cat Power, The Duke Spirit or The Like? Apparently not. Puke on their lame-o project.
Travis?! What the hell are these people smoking? TRAVIS???!!! You have to be kidding me.
