New Nico
FYI: Pitchfork Media (one of my fave rock resources) has given a very thoughtful review of a new & updated reissue of a two disc set that includes Nico's follow up albums to her solo debut, "Chelsea Girls". They are "The Marble Index" & "Desertshore" and the compilation is called "The Frozen Borderline". Pitchfork's review is also quite informative. For instance, did you know that Nico actually despised "Chelsea Girls"? With melodies written by ex-boyfriends like Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, and Lou Reed with ornate string arrangements to accompany her cool, dark vocals, she felt it was the antithesis to her true artistic core. So, "The Marble Index" & "Desertshore" are actually her answer to that. Interesting. You can read all about it here...
