Mira Nair's "The Namesake"
Mira Nair is the lady of the moment -er weekend. The director of such luscious flicks as "Kama Sutra : A Tale Of Love" and "Monsoon Wedding" ( a personal fave) has just unleashed her latest, "The Namesake" on the film-going population. As far as I'm concerned, this is the only choice when faced with testosterone-fed options like "Breach", "300" & "I Think I Love My Wife". There aren't enough quality chick flicks to go around & so it's nice to have directors like Nair (& Nicole Holofcener) to count on. Read THiS short little slice of life article the New York Times did on fabulous Mira. It's pretty entertaining. Then, of course, go see her movie.

Monsoon Wedding is beautiful. I haven't even heard of The Namesake. Must check my listings more often, but, you called, it, it's usually just rubbish anyway.
