Clouds Of The Glendalahias
I live on the East side of Los Angeles in a town called Glendale. I didn't want to live in Glendale, I wanted to live in Silver Lake (still do), but Glendale was as close as I could afford to get at the time. I've since come to appreciate this town though, because it has a lot of unexpected treasures, like friendly family culture, great shopping, safety, & close proximity to gorgeous Pasadena, artsy Los Feliz &, yes, my beloved Silver Lake. There's nature here too, possums, skunks, pretty trees &, my personal fave, a vast, visually accessible sky. Where else in the big city can you witness miles of blue sky dotted with fluffy, barge-like clouds or an ocean of crystal clear stars? I can actually see the constellations, which was something I was never able to do the ten years I lived in Hollywood. Maybe because I may soon be getting my Silver Lake wish come true, I can honestly say now that living in Glendale is just fine by me.
p.s. "The Glendalahias" is Billy's romanticized term for our town. Sometimes, if I'm lucky or he really wants something, he calls me "Beautiful Princess of The Glendalahias".
