KOSHi Luvs... Gal Stern

I've gotten used to the fact that Bleach Black is always going to beat me to the punch when it comes to finding the really cool shit and have come to humbly accept my place as a bottom feeder in order to present to you Gal Stern & her screen printed tights...

BONUS POiNTS: I love a personal intro like this...
"My name is Gal Stern and I'm a textile designer. I graduated from the Shenkar College of Design in Israel. I specialize in print. I would like to introduce you to my tights line, which I have developed at a workshop during my studies. All of the designs are screen print and all are hand made – starting with the coloring to the printing. My motto is originality, inventiveness, sexiness & avant-garde. Colors & shapes are very important in my designs. I use innovative and special techniques to make your legs unforgettable! Enjoy!"
The Bear Foot Shaman
Purple (!) Moon & Stars Watermelon:

In case you haven't noticed, I'm going through a major Etsy phase. My list of favorites is epic & getting longer by the day. I love the photography, the jewelry, the art & toys, all those natural beauty products & elixirs, the vintage clothes & accessories, those cute lil moss terrariums & the ceramics... oh- don't even get me started on the ceramics. I'll have to do a long long long ass Etsy Ceramics post soon to show the extent of lust I feel for the various pottery that I am starting to collect. Does one piece make a collection? Okay fine- I intend to collect some hand-made pottery. Another thing I intend to do is plant a killer garden with some Etsy seeds & the first stop on that big adventure will definitely be The Bear Foot Shaman...

The Uniform Project
Okay, last post of the day, I swear, and then it's back to work. This story is just too quirky to resist...
one girl + one little black Eliza Starbuck dress = an entire year of sustainable fashion!
The Uniform Project:
"Starting May 2009, I have pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion. Here’s how it works: There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day I will reinvent the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments, the majority of which will be vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies. Think of it as wearing a daily uniform with enough creative license to make it look like I just crawled out of the Marquis de Sade's boudoir."

"The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for slum children in India."

If Love Was More

We're still in the studio recording Obedient Waves's next ep, Rumble Fish, and, really, we're all freaking out about it. It's gonna be awesome. You'll see. And I know we're usually all punk rock & heavy duty rah rah rah, but there's a ballad of sorts on this one & we're debuting it at Bordello tonight. I still haven't memorized the lyrics, even though I wrote em (duh), so I'm doing that now. Here's a lil peak, but you'll have to make it out tonight to hear what they sound like set to music...
(p.s. It's call & answer, thus the "B" for Billy & "J" for Jo before each line.)
IF LOVE WAS MORE
J- If love was more like getting high
Than falling down
Well, I might try
B- If love was more like Hollywood
Than my home town
Maybe I could
J- I would fall in love with you
B- I would fall in love with you
I would fall in love with you
B- If love felt more like being young
Than getting old
Hell, I'd get sprung
J- If love would just stop playing games
Acting so cold
I'd be in flames
B- I would fall in love with you
J- I would fall in love with you
I would fall in love with you!
But it aint'
so I won't
And you c'aint
So let's don't
go there
go there
it's just not
sorry hun
thanks a lot
it was fun
oh well
oh well
J- If love hurt more like growing pains
Than cracking bones
I'd break these chains
B- If love looked more like happiness
I'd get the jones
And worry less
J- I would fall in love with you
B- I would fall in love with you
I would fall in love with you
B- If love worked more like having fun
Than going mad
You'd be the one
J- If love could just stop placing blame
I'd want you bad
And without shame
B- I would fall in love with you
J- I would fall in love with you
I would fall in love with you!
But it aint'
so I won't
And you c'aint
So let's don't
go there
go there
it's just not
sorry hun
thanks a lot
it was fun
oh well
oh well
mmmm

Wendy? Yes Lisa...

Purple Rain is 25 years old &, to celebrate, SPiN magazine is giving away this FREE compilation/tribute download of nine of the album's songs by artists like Of Montreal (Computer Blue), Chairlift (Darling Nikki), Fol Chen (The Beautiful Ones), and Lavender Diamond (Purple Rain). I was ecstatic over this album when I was a kid, mainly because it was so so naughty, I was still in elementary school, and my family was seriously all about Jesus. I had no idea what "masturbating with a magazine" meant, but , believe me, I was hella intrigued & determined to find out. So, I guess you could say that Prince is partly responsible for corrupting my virginal mind. I must thank him for that one day.

p.s. Lavender Diamond's Becky Stark does a restrained but kinda perfect version of the title track.
Nice N Pretty

This is Shikha. She sent me the simplest message this morning about my etsy shop, but something about her kindness & sincerity went straight to my heart. Maybe that's cuzz my mommy is leaving for Portugal this weekend for an indefinite amount of time, at least a year, and I'm very used to having her around (wah!). I must be extra mushy now, because the slightest thing gets me all choked up. Anyway, as I was saying... this is Shikha. She lives in India & has 2 etsy shops filled with affordable, delicate, bohemian goodies. I love her flowy robes, convertible dress-skirts, and that pretty, open face.

KOSHi SHOP... coming soon!

I'm working my booty off today- so this is it, as far as blog posts go. Obedient Waves is playing Vegas & Phoenix this weekend, and then, when we get back to L.A., I am officially re-launching KOSHi SHOP, this time from Etsy. I'll be selling Will Work 4 Food : A Coloring Book For Grownups, lots of KOSHi illustrations, and some crazy Obedient Waves music packages. I'm getting so excited just thinking about it! I miss me some KOSHi...
