Kate Moss In A Window

Kate Moss, looking all floaty-flowy in an orange, ankle length number, took to a Top Shop window this morning to pose as a mannequin for the launch of her first collection. It was a cute idea, but so unnecessary... she had us at "Hello"!

Courtney Sells Kurt's Stuff

Courtney Love is auctioning off most of Kurt Cobain's remaining possessions, which will be, I'm sure, good for the pocketbook & the promotion of her upcoming record, "Nobody's Daughter".

She explains the auction like this...
"I'm going to have a Christie's auction. (My house) is like a mausoleum. My daughter doesn't need to inherit a giant hefty bag full of flannel fucking shirts... A sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to 'Teen Spirit' - that's what my daughter gets. And the rest of it we'll just fucking sell. We'll make a lot of money and give a bunch of it to charity."

And she explains the upcoming album title like this..."I think the title just says it all. I'm not pouting. I'm not playing anything up. I don't have parents that I acknowledge. I'm nobody's daughter. I'm nobody's wife. I'm nobody's bitch. I'm nobody's daughter. I'm nobody's widow. I'm somebody's mother. Other than that, I don't identify with these other female roles I'm supposed to have."

Coachella Rock

I've been to four Coachella Festivals and can honestly say that this years' was by the far the most exciting. I went Friday & Saturday, which means I got to see Silversun Pickups, Amy Winehouse, The Kings Of Leon(!!!), Arctic Monkeys(!!!), Rufus Wainwright, Interpol, Peaches, The Arcade Fire, Regina Spektor, The Black Keys & The Red Hot Chili Peppers (who blew my mind & exceeded every possible expectation. I now require an "I Heart John Frusciante" tee. Anyone know where I can pick one up?). Unfortunately, I missed the Brazilian Girls & Coco Rosie because of scheduling conflicts and Bjork & Sonic Youth because my feet hurt. Still, I jumped & shimmied my butt off for a good two days. It really was too fun for words...

Coachella Art

Besides getting to see a whole bunch of the world's coolest & most popular rockers rockin' back to back to back, one of the best things about Coachella is the art. Huge, imaginative instillations mark the grassy, mountain-framed grounds & set the tone for all kinds of grownup silliness. Here are a few of my faves from this years' fest...

The Cutest Coachella Girls

I love women. That fact is central to KOSHi, which is dedicated to fabulous females everywhere, especially the fashionable, enterprising & rockin'est among us. I just think girls are the best and that, instead of ripping each other to shreds, we should celebrate & uplift each other. So, I never miss an opportunity to admire & share some girly cuteness, and this past weekend's Coachella fest had it in spades. I especially LUV'ed the hats & free-spirited dancing...

Ram Jam's "Black Betty"

I'm in such a freaking good mood tonight, even though I'm missing Tapes N Tapes at Spaceland and Dirty Sweet at The Viper Room right this very momento... I've been writing lyrics with a rockin' rock & roll band outta Santa Barbara AND... big AND... I just heard the White Stripes' "Icky Thump" for the first time tonight. This is cause for celebration...

(p.s. you can get yer very own Icky Thump to have & to hold forever & ever at iTunes right now. It'll blow yer top off for shore.)

Happy B-Day Rick Hixson

Today was my handsome, adventure-racing, entrepreneurial dad's 54th birthday. He's the nicest, most personable guy &, if you knew him, you'd love him, I'm sure. He recently $prung for a group trip to Universal Studios for me, my man, my kid & nephew, just for the heck of it, so I thought this pic would be an appropriate salute to one of my favorite people on his special day.

May W's Got The Goods

The May issue of W is definitely worth a trip down to the newsstand. Beautiful America Fererra is the cover story and this edgey-cool Alex White styled fashion spread, Revelation, shot by the amazing Mario Sorrenti, is inside. CLiCK HERE to check out a preview at Style.com

A New Pussycat Doll

18 year old single mommy, Asia, was crowned the next Pussycat Doll tonight. Yes, I watched every episode of "The Search For the Next Doll" & yes, I liked it. Roll yer eyes all you want. I'm dancing around in my undies right now.

2nd Raconteurs Album On the Way

Guitar god, Jack White is SUCH a bad ass. Is it no wonder that fools like me worship the man? Here he is, about to release Icky Thump with Meg in June, and now he announces that he's in the studio recording The Raconteur's sophomore album. Right on. It's also rumored that he & his supermodel wifey-poo are expecting their second bambino. When does he sleep?

KOSHi LUVS... Lori Earley

I've mentioned Lori Earley before in the CULT OF GiRL newsletter, but for those of you that don't subscribe to that- I wanted to mention her again, because she really is quite special. She paints surreally elongated women that come off as gorgeous life-like aliens & the over-all quality of her work is so deliciously moody. If you're lucky enough to live in New York city, you should swing by her new show, "Anima Sola", at the Opera Gallery, which opens next Saturday, the 28th. If you don't live in NY, you can read this Juxtapoz article to get a feel for this interesting artist & see more of her dazzling work.

Gwen Stefani's New Video

She's always channeled old Hollywood into her look, especially in the last five years, but now Gwen Stefani is going full-out Marilyn Monroe for her latest video, "4 In The Morning"...
AND in the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar.
I think she's pretty darn cute. What do you think?

Pam Anderson's Hot Bod

I refuse to post unflattering pics of anyone, because bad lighting, bad makeup, bad angles or, hell, a bad day can make for some embarrassing shots of the best of them. Plus, I do not ever want anyone to do that to me. Karma's a bitch. So, you'll have to go elsewhere to make fun of photos of Pam Anderson on her most recent family vacation. Are people seriously ripping on this one in a million lookers for being ugly? What a joke. She is nothing if not attractive. In fact, she's made quite a living & achieved iconic status exploiting that fact. And the thing that makes me smile is that she refuses to let the paparazzi and tabloid press bully her into feeling bad about herself.
The following quote is from the blog she posted about all the hubub the other day...
(Isn't it great?)

"It’s only a family vacation. We had a great time in Maui - hope everyone had a great spring break too - no photographers.

Thank god I don't have a google alert on myself (like some people I know do on themselves) - I've just been sent some pics from Hawaii - I have to laugh - well at least the world knows I don't get botox - ha!...I'm much hotter in my mind - (I swear I look better) - then again I hardly check a mirror before I go outside - may start doing that more.

I may have to start working out too though - genes and gymnastics have gotten me this far.

I just refuse to let these paparazzi ruin my time or my lifestyle in general with my children - I'm not going to spend time putting makeup on or staying covered up on the beach - it's definitely surreal though - I think I look alright but everywhere you turn you have a camera in your face - up you butt - it's crazy - too many tabloids - must be running out of stuff to print...I'm a semi-retired single mom - hello?

I'm having a great time with my kids always!...nothing new." P.A.

Allison Sattinger Live Tonight!

I've tried before to enlighten y'all on the beauty that is the multi-talented singer-songwriter, designer-artist, Allison Sattinger, & now you have the perfect opportunity to see what I mean for yourself. Her voice is heavenly and WiLL send chills up & down & up & down your spine, leaving you a tingling, giddy mess. She's playing tonight at Ghengis Cohen in Los Angeles (323 653 0640). If this is too late of notice for you to make it out (sorry- my bad) or you live out of town, you'll just have to settle for visiting her MySpace page to get an ear-full. CLiCK HERE to do so now & don't forget to shower her with much-deserved love and affection. Peace!
