Don't Mess With Furstenberg

As a consumer, I want to pay like twelve bucks for a dress, because, well, duh. But then I have to wonder... what designer is being ripped off? how many washes will it be before this thing falls apart? what sweat shop was this made in? who suffered for pennies so I could be cute? It kind of makes me feel like a scum bag. Diane Von Furstenberg would probably agree. She's suing Forever 21 for blatantly ripping off her creations, one flowery dress in particular. I'm surprised more designers don't do this. I know that can't trademark their designs, so how else should they defend themselves?

Feather Head Bands For Spring

Fashionologie is a really great fashion blog, "the musings of a twenty-something American girl who wishes she could have a Freaky Friday incident and switch bodies with Phoebe Philo." I go there from time to time to see what's up & was happy to find THiS recent post about the new feather headband trend. This, I think, is a much better look than a scarf slung round your forehead ala Nicole Richie. The feathers are more elegant, but still manage to look quite hip. I can imagine a funked up Audrey Hepburn in something like this. Oh- and you can get one at Urban Outfitters for less than thirty bucks. Groovy.

Wish You Were Here

When I step out my backdoor, which is for most intents & purposes my front door, I am happily assaulted with the most amazing, clean fragrance. The orange tree has blossomed & it's citrus-y scent makes me feel so giddy, like a nature-lovin', spring time granola girl. Aaaah... bliss!

Vintage Milla Jovovich

Thirteen years ago, Mtv ran a video called "Gentleman Who Fell" by one Ms. Milla Jovovich. It immediately captivated me & I couldn't wait to see it again. BUT apparently, it was too "out there" & a less eccentric version quickly replaced it, much to my chagrin, which didn't help save the song or Milla's record. It was a flop. Recently, I decided to do a lil research to see if I could find it on the web & lo & behold... You Tube to the rescue, there it was & here it is. Am I the only one who likes this? The song is very pretty & the images are, I think, quite compelling. Watch it & lemme know what you think...

Ocean's 13 Trailer

Al Pacino joins Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon & the gang as they joyfully indulge themselves in a third installment of their favorite blockbuster series. CLiCK HERE to watch the trailer for Ocean's 13. It looks like a lot of fun. The only thing that bums me out is the fact that the actors look like they're having an even better time than their audience will. I'm so jealous of those guys!

Kings Of Leon - Because Of The Times

Fuck Yeah!!! Yes! Yes! Yes! You are going to love this. If not, you're dead inside & you NEED this. CLiCK HERE to stream the Kings Of Leon record before it hits stores Tuesday. Then go out & buy it, so you can carry it with you everywhere.

Kim Buzzelli's Lovesick & Vanishing

Here's a pic of me with the fabulous Ms. Wandie at Kime Buzzelli's Show Pony show, "Lovesick & Vanishing". How great is that name? Wish I thought of it. The other pic is of the lovely, super talented Ms. Buzzelli herself, standing in front of her yummy paintings. CLiCK here to virtually experience this super fun night thanks to the video & photo gallery at the Moldy Doily.

Susan Sarandon Is One Cool Chick

I worked at Women In Film years ago, which afforded me a few opportunities to meet some of my heroes. Every one of them exceeded my expectations with their graciousness & generosity, but Susan Sarandon blew them all out of the water in terms of pure charisma. I have never met anyone with such a gravitational pull. The woman is a walking sex pot, strong, intelligent, maternal & strikingly confident, plus she talked to me with the utmost respect. So, my heart always skips a beat whenever I see her mentioned in the news. This time, it's because she played host at a New York art event at Emergency Arts to help raise money for the Nest Foundation, which assists child victims of commerical sexual exploitation. Great cause! The thing that cracks me up is that she reportedly got star struck when she spotted designer Zac Posen & immediately had to call her daughter to share the siting. I guess big fancy movie stars can get as gah-gah as the rest of us.

Spider-Man 3 Soundtrack

I know I'm going to have to see Spider-Man 3, because Billy is a huge super hero kinda guy. But I am NOT a super hero kinda girl & I don't wanna- well, I didn't till I saw the soundtrack track list. It's unbelievable & most of the songs were recorded especially for the film...

05 The Walkmen: Red River
06 Black Mountain: Stay Free

She's Still Jenny From The Block

Say what you will about her talents, but Jennifer Lopez knows how to work it. That girl could sell ice to eskimos. Gotta admire a strong business woman. Yesterday, she went back to her hometown of the Bronx to sign autographs and promote her first all-Spanish album with her new hubby, Marc Anthony by her side. Apparently &, I think, for good reason, the crowd of 500 was thrilled. She used to have a little, but now she has a lot & she still knows where she came from...

Kings Of Leon On Letterman

It's that time again... Time to set yer Tivos! The Kings Of Leon will be on The Late Show W/David Letterman tonight. This makes me so freaking happy. Now I have to go to NME.com to obsess on the streaming interview a couple of The Kings did, dishing on their new album & upcoming tour. Weeeeeha! I love these boys. xoxoxoxo

UPDATE: Did you see it it? Awwww. It was so f'in gooood. I had to keep rewinding to watch it again & again and won't be deleting it any time soon. Americans need to get with the program- This is OUR band, but they are practically living in obscurity over here. The UK, as usual, knows what's up & worships these guys like they're the second coming of The Beatles.

FYi: Granted, the quality of this video is shoddy, BUT, if you missed it, you can see The Kings performing "On Call" on Letterman by clicking HERE.

Flip Book Fun At Flip.com

(collages from KOSHi's "Be Your Own Status Symbol"- NOT at Flip.com)

Have you been to Flip.com yet? It's a great way to waste your time- I'm talking major time suckage, because it's fun. Basically, users log in & upload their very own "Flip Books" made with collage, illustration, photography, poetry & music. It's quite representative of the girly revolution happening now, don't you think? I definitely want to make my own. All I need is one lazy Sunday, which seems to be a rare commodity these days. Anyway, if you haven't been by yet, lecookie's "SMELL OF RAiN" is a good place to start. It's got some great editorial-quality pics & an upbeat soundtrack that keeps you flipping them silly good pages....

Hilary Does Indian Fashion

I realize that Bohemian Chic is long past over, but I still love exotic fashion, tunics, saris, bindis, paisely or an arm load of gold bangles. In fact, I think it's all rather classic & intend to utilize this joyous yet sophisticated look for my wedding in Big Sur next year. So, I definitely appreciate Hilary Alexander traveling to New Delhi for Indian Fashion Week & then coming back to the Telegraph to tell us all about it. CLiCK HERE to read her wonderfully detailed, two page report.

Arcade Fire's Neon Bible Video

GOOD TiMES...
Wanna see the very sizable band, Arcade Fire, squeeze into an elevator, violins & all? Wanna watch 'em hang out, chit chat, play some tunes, engage a roaring crowd? Then you should WATCH their latest video. It's for two songs, "Neon Bible" & "Wake Up". My fave part is when one of the band members adds a rhythmic shshshick to a tune by ripping up a magazine. Simple but cool.

Bjork Talks Timbaland

Timbaland is everywhere these days & he's really stepped up his game, moving out of his original rap genre to work with such heavy pop hitters as Coldplay, Elton John, Madonna & Bjork. I like when people expand their talents & I love that we live in a day when that's celebrated. No one wants to be kept in a box. And, speaking of someone who refuses to be boxed up, Bjork's all set to give us her new album, Volta, &, if you CLiCK HERE, you can read an interview she did about making the record &, yes, working with super producer, Timbaland.

She says, "'Earth Intruders' was the first beat he [Timbaland] put on, and it just all came up, that sort of fantasy that maybe a tsunami of people would just come and hit the White House and scrape it off the ground and do some justice and spread these people all around the planet...

KOSHi LUVS... Sublime Stitching

It is a testament to artist Jenny Hart's creative ingenuity & business acumen that Sublime Stitching has not only endured, but thrived over the years. Embroidery patterns for hipsters? Who woulda thunk it? Now, she's expanding the line to feature the work of her fellow artists, launching the Sublime Stitching Artist Series with designs by Kurt Halsey. At $3, that's right. THREE BUCKS, per transfer sheet, this is the perfect time to start your very own low brow art collection.

Kate Moss Does Barney's NY

“Topshop is a lower-end mass store that offers a lot of style; Barneys is an upscale luxury store that offers high style,” said Julie Gilhart, “What we both share is a love of style.” Barney's NY fashion director, Gilhart is more than a little excited to have Kate Moss, much less her new collection, coming to her store May 8. Aren't we all? She adds, “Kate’s style is so much of a Barneys style, so it’s like having a peek into her closet.” I'm sure the big bucks this collection will rake in does not hurt either.

BEHiND THE SCENE: If you SUBSCRiBE to TopShop's Podcast, you can watch Kate & the TopShop team at work on her collection...

Winslet & DiCaprio Reunite

Leonard DiCaprio & Kate Winslet are getting back together, thanks to her director hubby, Sam Mendes. The Titanic twosome will re-team for "Revolutionary Road", a 1950's placed piece based on the acclaimed novel by Richard Yates.

The Pierces... Oh The Pierces

"Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead..."

The Pierces are the kind of band that makes a girl proud to be a girl. Their fantasy-inducing music is so infectious & their imaginative biography is entertaining in it's own special way. You'll have to ViSiT THEiR MYSPACE page to see & hear for yourself. Enjoy!

"Some people say I want you for your money, but I really want you for your body..."

KOSHi LUVS... Autumn De Wilde

(all featured pics are the sole creation & property of autumn de wilde)

To be a proper Girl-In-The-Know, you MUST know & LOVE Autumn De Wilde, an awesome Los Angeles based photographer. She's shot everyone from Fiona Apple, Spoon & The White Stripes to Silversun Pickups, Jenny Lewis & Willie Nelson. She does editorials, fashion spreads, portraiture, album covers & very immediate documentary work. As if that weren't enough, she also shoots videos and, if you CLiCK HERE, you can check out her videos for Spoon, Elliot Smith, Jenny Lewis, The Sun & Death Cab For Cutie. Are you sold yet? You should be. SHE ROCKS!

Maybe you should ask her to be your Myspace friend so that you can, like a good lil' stalker -er fan, better follow this bad ass woman's career...

AND, if you really, truly & completely dig this digable chick, then you could pre-order a copy of her upcoming "Elliot Smith" book, which (patience now) does not come out till Fall 2007...

Amy Winehouse At Spaceland

I could just die! I'm missing Amy Winehouse performing at Spaceland in Silver Lake right this minute. I didn't go to last night's show at The Roxy cuzz I knew it'd be a zoo, but now I have no sitter for my kid tonight. My life is over. I throw myself on the floor in fits of dispair... Waaaaah!!!!!

Sandler = The New Letterman

David Letterman went home sick with a stomach virus earlier today. On a happier note, Adam Sandler has stepped in as guest host for tonight's show, calling in Don Cheadle to replace himself as the lead guest. This is definitely worth setting the Tivo.

Madonna For H&M

CLiCK HERE to read a very decent article with Madonna talking about her latest designs for H&M and a future retrospective she's considering creating using multi-media materials to showcase the photographers( Mario Testino, Herb Ritts) and designers(Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix) she's worked with over the years. I think I'd like to see that.

Bjork On Tour

Some people defy classification & Bjork is definitely one of those folks. Seeing her live would be a special experience for anyone. So, it's excellent news that she's launching a world wide tour for her next album, Volta, which features the work of Timbaland and Antony of Antony & The Johnsons. You should really try & make it out to one of these shows. You won't be disappointed.
