KOSHi LUVS... Susannah Grant

I saw "Catch And Release" (written & directed by Susannah Grant) this afternoon and was very pleasantly surprised. This one is a real winner. Ladies, your men may even tolerate this pic. I say drag em to see it on V-Day. The script is great, the scenery gorgeous & the cast will warm your heart through & through. I was especially delighted to see that Juliette Lewis had such a substantial role and that Kevin Smith's acting did not stink. Really, it didn't.

Sunny Rising Jewelry

Soulful songstress, Allison Sattinger, WiLL be too famous & busy playing Oprah-Coachella-The Late Show to indulge her other talents one day, so I highly recommend that you take out your pocket book, go to her Etsy shop, Sunny Rising, and pick up one of her hand-tooled leather pieces of jewelry now. That way, when she's a big "somebody" you can say that you own an original piece of her handy work from way back when... or resell it on Ebay for like a gajillion dollars...

R.i.P. Marcheline Bertrand

One of my favorite women of all time and a true role model, Angelina Jolie, lost her gracious & adored mother to cancer earlier this week. Rest in peace, lovely lady.

SAG Awards Fashion

FUNKiEST COUPLE: And the winner is... Rachel McAdams with Ryan Gosling mixing it up. Thank God for the cool kids willing to pass on today's tragically pervasive stylist-induced "perfection".

Golden Globes Fashion

BEST DRESSED: And the winner is... Reese Witherspoon in a darling yellow shorty.

The Golden Carriage

Gwen Stefani makes motherhood look positively hip. That Kingston is one lucky kid.

KOSHi forgives BLOGGER

They fixed my page! AT LAST!!! More specifically, Graham of BLOGGER fixed my page. Weeeeehoooo... I'm back. Feels good. Now let's see if I can play a lil catch up... What'd I miss???

New Blonde Redhead

Here's a Blonde Redhead video to celebrate the fact that their new album will be out in April, which they will start touring for in March at the SXSW fest in Austin. Coolio.

Diaz = People's Choice

You like her. You really like her! Whew- what a relief. After all the ugly comments about darling Cameron on the web, I was beginning to think that Perez Hilton had officially taken over America's collective brain. Ha! Ha! We're still thinkin' for ourselves, you nasty man!

New Stefani Video = Fun

This is really cute... much better than her last video. Good times!

p.s. Gwen recently hinted that she may get back with No Doubt, which I know will make all you rockers much happier than her current candy-pop phase does.

The Skinny On California

I know this must be a controversial stance, as no one likes to be controlled by the government, but I am VERY supportive of California joining New York in the banning of Trans Fats in restaurant food. In fact, I don't see it as controlling, but protective. And, the more I learn about the cracky effects of sugar on our health, the more I am inclined to think that there should be restrictions on that as well. At least give us a choice.

New Patti Smith

Well now... this looks promising. Patti Smith is releasing a collection of covers by acts like Nirvana, Bob Dylan & Jimi Hendrix. I'm pretty excited about her choice of material & hope that this will introduce a whole new generation of girls to this highly original, bad ass rock-poetess.

Loverly Just Loverly... Blanchett

Justjared.com is so great for magazine previews like this one with Cate Blanchett, Marie Claire's February 07 cover girl. Mmm...Perfection!.

U.S. Says NO 2 Skinny Models

The CFDA has formed a special committee to set guidelines on the issue of skinny models before the casting for next month's fashion week. The committee is composed of the new president, designer Diane von Furstenberg, Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour, an agent from top agency, DNA, a nutritionist, a psychiatrist, a trainer and a representative from a fashion PR firm. Looks like the Spanish have set a precedent & I am pleasantly surprised to see that the U.S. is first to take their lead.

New Arcade Fire Tracks

The husband & wife team behind "Arcade Fire" have done it again... Another album... Another Tour... Pitchfork Media reveals the upcoming track list & a very weird YouTube video-"press release". This band is one of the most inventive acts around, down to their very entertaining flash-heavy website, so KOSHi, for one, can't wait to have a listen.

Di Dilema : Let It Die?

The case on Princess Di is being opened once more and, this time, her sons want to get it over with quickly. Can you blame them? Their darling mother's memory has really taken a beating. Her former secretary says... "At its best the inquest will show us that this sad matter is now settled and that we can concentrate on remembering the princess in an entirely positive light as Princes William and Harry obviously want us to..." Do you believe she was murdered? Unfortunately, hers looks to be as mysterious an ending as Marilyn Monroes'. We may never know the truth.

Pimp Daddy's 2 Cents

Tom Ford weighs in on fashion's current focus on celebrity & secondary lines... "In a way, it is understandable (that celebrity marketing thrives). They are a constant in our lives. In a way, they have become our family," Mr. Ford says. "You can move from one city to another, but you can pick up a magazine and know what Lindsay Lohan is doing. You know everything about them." And... "With Target, for example, you go in there and find something that is a great price and wonderful for its intrinsic value. This is democratization of fashion. I love this high-low concept," he says, adding: "There is all this accessibility -- everything is now online."

KOSHi LUVS... Show Pony

Show Pony is this super adorable, tiny hipster shop in Echo Park/Silver Lake (the best part of L.A.). Kime Buzzelli is the owner and a very cool illustrator-designer-girl-about-town supporting other very cool illustrator-designer-girls-about-town. Now, she's set up a Show Pony Ebay shop for all you poor souls living outside La La Land to enjoy. So... what are you waiting for???

Sweet Drew

JustJared.com offers us a sneak peak at Drew on the cover of February 2007 Bazaar. Lovely girl.

Speaking Of Nose Jobs...

Dear Courtney...

I liked your original face best, but have gotten used to it's various incarnations over the years. Still, will you please stop cutting yourself up? You are "pretty on the inside"... & if you keep fucking with the outside, we won't be able to recognize you in there. Peace...

LUV... Jo

A better beak?

Oh great... Now it's easier than ever to achieve nasal perfection... But Why?!!! Ladies, I beg you, please please pleeeease do not remove or alter your nose. Plenty of beauties have prominent proboscis.

New Dusty Springfield

I really love Joss Stone, but I was kinda disappointed by her 2006 UK Music Hall of Fame tribute performance to Dusty Springfield. I thought it was a bit all-over-the-place and not nearly as impactful as I'd anticipated. So, I'm happy to hear good things about a new compilation of Springfield's work is hitting the shelves. Her warm alto voice can not be duplicated and sounds so refreshing against today's pop.

Von Teese Sans Marilyn

Some of the web's most popular blogs are really mean. They make me nervous. I mean, I have an opinion & a strong one at that, but you aren't going to find me calling people "Fat Pig" or "Zombie Hands". I'm sure said blogs are going to have a ball ripping on Marilyn Manson & Dita Von Teese given the news that she is serving him divorce papers, but I will merely wish them luck as they go their separate, eccentric ways. Dita's star is rising and, since I've been a fan for years, I can confidently say that this resilient, fierce siren will not be deterred by the shred mags & hater blogs. In fact, I'm willing to bet that this will catapult her to the next level of omni-present celeb status. Hopefully, her edges will remain nice & sharp.

Arnie Good?

Next week, Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to propose that all children in California be given free medical insurance. As a mother of a very sweet-wonderful-amazing boy with autism... As a mother who has been stuck in a never ending trap of red tape and hoop-jumping in order to get health care for my kid... I am shocked & more than a little stoked. Does this mean I have to stop hating the Governator?

KOSHi LUVS... Adore Vintage

There's this very fashionable, energetic girl, Rodellee, and then there's her shopping site, AdoreVintage.com. They both make me so gosh darn happy. For example: this ring is only $31, which is representative of the prices on all the retro-trendy goodies she sells.

More Courtney 2 LUV

As you probably know, I am a big fan of Courtney Love- for better & worse. The New York Daily News posted this partial list of her 53 typo-ridden new years resolutions, claiming it's from her official site "Moon Washed Roses". I had no idea such a site existed. Courtney, is this really your place? It's slow, but I like it. The old family photos are the best.

Italy Measures Models BMI

Fashionologie is a great source for fashion news "...the musings of a twenty-something American girl who wishes she could have a Freaky Friday incident and switch bodies with Phoebe Philo." The current Fashionologie scoop is about Italy's Chamber of Fashion proposing that models acquire a license before walking the runways in Milan next season. The license will be issued to those meeting weight and age requirements. Maybe this should be standard procedure everywhere? My only amendment would be to raise the age limit from 16 to 18.

Sienna Miller's Pants

Sienna Miller and her sister, Savannah are launching their own fashion line called "Twenty8Twelve", which apparently represents Sienna's birthday (Dec. 28). She's a stylish gal & her sis is a Saint Martins grad, so why not?
